Hey, where's your office?
We're frequently asked where our office is. The answer is simple: In our homes.
Why? Because we have found it to be the most efficient and effective way of doing business.
A home-based business is a choice and a lifestyle. We maintained a commercial office in Timonium for several years complete with a parking lot, cinderblock walls, desks, corporate phones, commercial carpet, our own bathroom, and more fast food restaurant choices than you could shake a stick at. We had everything we needed to support and sustain our employees — and guess what? No one was ever there.
Our business is all about going to our customers' places of business and helping them with their problems. We found we were only using our corporate office as a "home base", but it was a home base all of our employees had to travel to, some as much as an hour and a half per day. Now we have true "home bases." In our "office" in Forest Hill (which is the home of owners Tim and Donna) we have a workbench and a couple of desks so we can build and support our customers' computers — and that's it! Apart from that, we practice what we preach to our clients. We use cloud-based phone systems. We have three separate data center co-locations in three different states that we use to host our business and the businesses, data, websites and livelihoods of 120+ of our customers.
Our purpose and goal in business has always been to be an extra set of hands sitting across the kitchen table that YOU, a fellow business owner, can call on for technical, marketing, and small business advice. By working from home, we are available to help you when you need us. While we maintain normal business hours so we can spend times with our families, the fact of the matter is that if you experience a critical issue with your business at 8:30 in the evening, we can walk downstairs and get on your network and help you right away. How many IT call centers will do that for you?
We work from our homes so we can spend time with our families, avoid a miserable commute, lower our impact on the environment, and keep our overhead and cost of doing business low — so our customers don't have to pay for a nice office. We use the latest technology to communicate with each other, manage projects, and make sure we are being extremely responsive to our customers. We meet together regularly — by phone, online and in person — to ensure we are providing our clients the highest level of service.
In summary, we're not hiding behind a storefront or a phone. We're folks just like you — and if you have a problem, you don't just have our office address. You know where our owners live. We're stable, we're real, and we can't wait to leverage everything we have to help you.
